I am a simple person, when I set a goal, I’m pretty focused on reaching it with the less complicated and direct approach. So, when I decided to try the keto diet, I knew that sacrifices had to be made and I was cool with it. No carbs? Okay, fine. More fats? Sure, why not.
But, as I was discussing daily menus with a friend who is also on a keto diet, she mentioned something about peanut butter not being on the keto-friendly list. Excuse me, but I don’t need that kind of negativity in my life. It certainly struck a nerve.

Once again, based on simplicity, determined to save my friendship and having my mind set on eating peanut butter while on keto diet, I submerged in a deep investigation for the best peanut butter for keto diet. Turns out you can eat peanut butter on this type of diet, but you need to be aware of the peanut butter contents and nutrients.
Today, I’m going to suggest a few brands of peanut butter and I’ll let you know what I believe is the best peanut butter for keto diet. Let’s dig in!
Can You Eat Peanut Butter on a Keto Diet?
My love story with peanut butter began from the time when there were very limited brands of peanut butter, so I ate either that one or the other one. Today, we are spoilt with choice. I can name ten brands that I especially like just off the top of my head, but I was disappointed to learn that they might not be the best peanut butter for keto diet for me when I’m trying to reach ketosis.

In short, (technically) there aren’t any foods that are off limits when you’re on the keto diet as long as you keep carbs intake to a minimum. Logically, you’ll find it easier to follow the macros if you choose high-fat, low-carb foods, and peanut butter fits this description. But, you know what they say, if it sounds too good to be true – it probably is.
Basically, every product in the US labeled ‘peanut butter’ contains at least 90% peanuts. The remaining 10% consists of white sugar, dried cane syrup, coconut palm sugar, or agave syrup. Added sugar implies higher carb content, meaning just a scoop of peanut butter will push you over the carb limits.
When it comes to keto diet, the best choice for the best peanut butter for keto diet is 100% peanut butter. However, they are on the pricier side, so in this list, I made sure to include peanut butter brands for the budget-conscious customer as well. As a general rule, when you’re buying peanut butter that’s keto-friendly, look for ingredient labels that only include salt in addition to peanuts.

365 Everyday Value, Organic Peanut Butter
This organic peanut butter is the first thing I reach for when I open the fridge in the morning, even before fully opening my eyes. I generally love 365 Everyday Value products as they are healthy and tasty, but I find this one to be the best peanut butter for keto diet.
Before purchasing, note that this brand also has a creamy, unsweetened peanut butter, but it contains palm oil and sea salt. That said, look for the package that says unsweetened and no salt, made of dry roasted organic peanuts.

Being present on the market since 1893, Crazy Richard’s peanut butter has that taste that reminds me of childhood. When new brands emerged and started introducing new peanut butters, I forgot about this gem for a while. But, I never truly gave up on it. Come on, I’m not a traitor.
Fast forward to today, Crazy Richard’s peanut butter is among my top 3 choices when it comes to which peanut butter is the best for keto diet. It is available in creamy and crunchy version, and I equally adore both of them.

Georgia Grinders Peanut Butter
Georgia Grinders’ peanut butter is available in creamy and crunchy versions. For me, the crunchy one is better, but you might like the creamy one better since there’s no accounting for taste.
It is made only from peanuts with just a pinch of salt. Many of the peanut butter brands I tried either put too much or too little salt, but I have to admit that Georgia Grinders’ is perfectly salted. It has a rich natural peanut taste, and the creamy variety literally melts in your mouth.

It shows that Georgia Grinders really perfected the art of making natural peanut butter, because it’s rare to find a peanut butter that’s not too oily. In addition, the butter needn’t be refrigerated and it doesn’t separate. If you’re thinking about ordering, my advice is to order in bulk. It is also among the most affordable peanut butters out there.

The Bottom Line
When it comes to which is the best peanut butter for keto diet, I have to say that once again, it depends on your taste. However, usually the brands we find in the store and we love so much, are not keto-friendly.
That said, the only way to be sure that you’re buying a keto-friendly peanut butter is to look at the ingredients label. Don’t be fooled by big labels that say ‘Natural’ since it is often used as a marketing pitch. The peanut butter that you’re looking for should consist of only peanuts, or peanuts and salt.

But, you should still be aware of the amount you consume. Just because you’re buying keto-friendly peanut butter doesn’t mean that you can eat the whole jar. As suggested above, two tablespoons are just enough to fit your keto macronutrients.
